Tube-Like Fossils
Colonial organisms often build tube-like structures. They may be branched, have a corkscrew shape, or have grooves that run up the outside. Other tube-like fossils aren’t colonial at all - you might recognize an individual organism that has a tube-like shape if it also has grooves that run perpendicular to the length of the tube or if there are pores (openings) visible.
